Uninvited

I was in the bedroom when I heard an unfamiliar sound. I opened my door and saw a cop standing in my kitchen. Instead of shouting, I daintily screeched and told the officer to hold on while I quickly got dressed. For some reason, I wasn’t scared, neither did I feel threatened. He asked if I had called the cops, and though I had refuted everything repeatedly, he wouldn’t leave until I showed him a mail confirming my address. It appeared a neighbor had called the cops and they thought the call had come from my place. He apologized profusely then left.

Still, I wondered how he had got inside my apartment and if he was a civilian dressed in a police costume from Don Quiote (a popular store that sells a variety of items including costumes). The culture of cosplay is very popular in Japan, but I wasn’t having a party, let alone a costume party.  I would have heard if he had rung my doorbell, but he didn’t. Why did he enter my premises unannounced?

The next day, I went to the housing company to confirm the incident. They made some calls and confirmed that everything was okay. Surprisingly, I didn’t march to the police station to further investigate. I guess the explanation they provided allayed my concerns.

Thanking God to this day for His protection. Praise His matchless name!

Yes, I too praise his matchless name. I would be forced to take that 14 hours trip alone with my heart in my mouth.
